1. Service Description
Autonomy LLC provides an AI-guided document preparation service for people filing for divorce in Michigan. Autonomy prepares court-ready divorce documents from the information you provide. You buy Autonomy as a one-time package for your case, not as a subscription.
2. Eligibility
Autonomy is available to members of the general public who are preparing their own Michigan divorce documents and who are at least 18 years old. You create an account with your email address. When you create an account, you agree to these terms.
3. Account Terms
You keep your own account. We sign you in with email-based magic links or your Google account, so we store no password. Keep your email address current, and keep your account to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account.
4. Payment and Refunds
Autonomy sells one-time packages for a single case. Our payment processor, Stripe, handles your payment. You are not charged until Paige confirms your case is a good fit. Once we generate your documents, all sales are final. If Paige determines your case needs an attorney, you pay nothing. We may change our prices, and any change applies to purchases you make after the change.
5. AI-Assisted Features
Autonomy uses an AI language model to read the financial documents you upload, such as W-2s, tax returns, 1099s, and K-1s, and to help fill in your paperwork. This feature is an assistive tool. You must review and verify every AI-read value before you rely on it. We do not guarantee the accuracy of what the AI reads, and you are responsible for confirming the values.
6. Calculations and Legal Disclaimer
Our tools implement the Michigan Child Support Formula (MCSF) and related Michigan statutes. All calculations are provided for informational purposes only. This service does not constitute legal advice and is not a substitute for independent professional judgment. You must independently verify all results before use in any legal proceeding. We are not liable for errors in calculations or their application.
7. Data and Privacy
We store your case data securely. We do not sell or share your data with third parties except the service providers who help us run Autonomy, as described in our Privacy and Security page. You can delete your cases and documents at any time, and you can ask us to delete your entire account by contacting us.
8. Intellectual Property
Autonomy LLC owns the content, code, design, and branding of the service. You keep full ownership of your case data. You can view and download your uploaded documents at any time from your Cases page. The court-form outputs are based on Michigan SCAO public forms and are not proprietary to us.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Autonomy LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Modifications
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify users via email for material changes. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Kent County, Michigan.

Autonomy Document Preparation Service
13. Autonomy Service Terms
13.1 Nature of Service. Autonomy is a document preparation service provided by Autonomy LLC, a Michigan limited liability company. Autonomy is not a law firm, does not practice law, and is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. Autonomy assists users in preparing legal documents based on information provided by the user. By using Autonomy, you acknowledge and agree that no attorney-client relationship is created between you and Autonomy LLC, its owners, employees, or affiliates.
13.2 No Legal Advice. Autonomy does not provide legal advice, legal opinions, legal recommendations, or legal strategy. The information and documents generated by Autonomy are based solely on the factual information you provide. Autonomy does not evaluate the merits of your case, advise you on potential outcomes, or recommend a particular course of action. Any general information provided through the platform is for educational purposes only and should not be construed as legal advice.
13.3 User Responsibility. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all information you provide to Autonomy. You are responsible for reviewing all documents generated by Autonomy for accuracy before filing them with any court or providing them to any other party. Autonomy LLC is not liable for errors or omissions in documents resulting from inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information provided by the user.
13.4 Recommendation to Consult an Attorney. Autonomy is designed for individuals who wish to prepare their own legal documents. If your situation involves contested custody, significant assets, domestic violence, complex financial issues, or any other circumstances that may require professional legal judgment, you are strongly encouraged to consult a licensed Michigan attorney. A directory of Michigan attorneys is available through the State Bar of Michigan Lawyer Referral Service.
13.5 Michigan-Specific Compliance. Autonomy operates in compliance with Michigan law regarding legal document preparation services. Michigan prohibits the unauthorized practice of law (MCL 600.916), including by corporations and associations (MCL 450.681), and Michigan caselaw distinguishes permissible document-preparation assistance from the practice of law. Consistent with these authorities, document preparation services may assist individuals in completing court forms based on information provided by the individual, but may not select forms on behalf of the individual, advise the individual on legal rights or remedies, or engage in activities that constitute the unauthorized practice of law. Autonomy operates within these boundaries. If you believe that any feature of Autonomy exceeds the scope of permissible document preparation, please contact us immediately.
13.6 Disclaimer Acknowledgment. Before using Autonomy, you will be required to acknowledge that you understand the limitations of the service as described in this Section 13. Your continued use of Autonomy after such acknowledgment constitutes your ongoing agreement to these terms.
